Anew research has shown that a Women who were long babies at birth may be more likely to
develop breast cancer.
New research, based on results from more than 22,000
Norwegian women, shows those who were 2cm longer than the average birth length
(43cm to 50cm) had a 13 per cent higher risk of developing the disease, reports
the European Journal of Epidemiology.
The women were studied for an average of 51 years and
scientists found that the risk of cancer was even higher for women whose
mothers were taller than average, too
It is thought that length at birth indicates a high exposure
to certain hormones in the womb, and these continue to influence the woman
throughout life, possibly raising the risk of breast cancer
