Terry, who was frozen out by the FA, lost his England captaincy and consequently retired from international football in 2012 after being accused of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand - despite being cleared in court - cut a popular figure in China as he greeted supporters who scrambled for photo opportunities.
The Blues skipper received an award from the Guangzhou Football Association, naming him as an ambassador of football culture while he visited a Nike-sponsored football park where he did some keep ups and posed for photographs with some local children
Premier League champions Chelsea have a large support throughout Asia, which took off when they sealed a Chinese website deal in 2007 that added more than 100 million people to the club's potential fanbase.
