Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has touched down in
Los Angeles with Gerrard wife Alex Curran ahead of his next footballing venture.
Gerrard, 34, left his boyhood club to join LA Galaxy
following the last Premier League season, and is expected to make his debut on
July 11 against Club America.
And the ex-England international has touched down in the US
as he prepares to begin work under Bruce Arena stateside.
Gerrard recently returned from a holiday in Ibiza with Curra,
as they celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary, and the couple are set to
live in a £16.8million Malibu home.
The family will reside in Los Angeles for 18 months while he
plays out his contract with the team, and although it's a long way from his
home in Merseyside, there's no doubt the family will feel incredibly
comfortable in the not-so-humble abode.
Gerrard, who is moving to Major League Soccer along with
fellow England legend Frank Lampard, cannot officially play for the Cup
champions until the summer transfer window opens on July 8.
He may not have yet left for his new adventure but he is
already thinking about the time when he will return to Anfield
'I want to keep playing every week in the final few years of
my career and I'm looking forward to embarking on a new challenge with Los
Angeles Galaxy in the MLS,' said the 34-year-old, who will publish his new
autobiography in September.
'I hope to get the opportunity to come back and serve the
club again one day.
'I feel that I can make a contribution in some role in the future.
Meanwhile, his new coach Arena has revealed that LA Galaxy
tried to sign Lampard last summer before he was snapped up by New York City
We recruited Frank pretty hard here,' Galaxy coach Bruce
Arena told the Mirror. 'The deal was close.'
'We talk to pretty much every single player that is
interested in coming to the US and certainly when you hear Frank Lampard is
willing, you're gonna have a lengthy conversation.
'I got to know Frank and visited him in London and he's a
fabulous person and player and he's really going to help football here in
America. He's going to do really well.
Lampard is also set to arrive in the USA soon, posting a
picture with fiancee Christine Bleakley on Facebook in the early hours of
Sunday morning with the caption: 'NYC here we come!
